What is Danish Language 1 Examination?

The Danish Language Exam 1 (PD1) is the final assessment for Danish Education 1, module 5. The exam is graded as either ‘passed’ or ‘not passed’.

 

As of January 1, 2025, the final level of Danish Education 1 has been adjusted so that it now concludes after module 5. The written part of the Danish Language Exam 1 will henceforth correspond to level A1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), while the oral part will correspond to level A2+.

 

The Danish Language 1 Examination provides access to:

FVU (preparatory adult education) Start and Mathematics courses

Registration

It is free to sit the Danish Language 1 Examination, if you are enrolled on a Danish Language 1 Course at Speak and registered for Module 1.5.

 

However, you are required to pay a fee to sit the examination, if you are an independent student.

Price and dates for the Danish Language 1 Examination

The Danish Language 1 Examination May/June 2025

Written examination: 15 May

Oral examination: during the period 10 – 20 June

Registration deadline: 3 March 2025

Price: 1.575 DKK

 

The Danish Language 1 Examination November/December 2025

Written examination: 13 November

Oral examination: during the period 1 to 12 December

Registration deadline: 1 September 2025

Price: 1.575 DKK

Where and how is the examination held?

You can choose to sign up for the examination in;

  • Hellerup
  • Helsingør

We will inform you about the exact location no later than 2 weeks before the examination.

It is not possible to request for a certain examination location apart from what you can choose at registration.

 

It is not possible to use a PC or Mac during the exam.

Remember ID

NB: You can no longer use a driver’s license as identification.

It is important that you bring the correct ID for the Danish Language 1 Examination.

Below, you can read what constitutes valid identification:

 

  • Residence permit card, alien’s passport or convention passport issued by a public authority in Denmark.
  • Passport or identity card issued by a public authority in an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland.
  • Passport issued by a public authority in a country other than those mentioned above, with a residence sticker affixed.

 

Make sure to check well in advance of the exam if you have the correct identification. A photocopy or picture of the document cannot be used.

How do I get my certificate?

We will send your certificate to your e-Boks no later than 2 weeks after the oral test.

You can also pick up your original certificate at Speak Hellerup up to 1 year after completion of the exam.
