What is an FVU company course?

FVU stands for Forberedende Voksenundervisning (Preparatory Adult Education). An FVU company course is a free-of-charge integrated course for Danish or foreign employees who need to upgrade their Danish language skills, their mastery of arithmetics in Danish, or their English or digital skills.

We offer:

• FVU Danish
• FVU Mathematics
• FVU English
• FVU Digital

The FVU courses are divided into levels of 40–60 lessons each. You may complete each level by sitting an official FVU level examination. The examinations are not mandatory.

Tailor-made teaching

An FVU company course is tailored to the specific needs of the company. By including real life texts, manuals, workflows and other actual examples from the workplace, the lessons can be used as a tool to solve concrete and specific challenges or problems.

The FVU courses are taught by highly experienced and well qualified teachers who are specially trained to teach FVU courses and Danish to adults.

An FVU company course can help to retain employees, as improving their language or technical skills is an important factor to this end.

FVU Danish

FVU Danish is for individuals who would like to improve their Danish reading and writing skills.

This could be employees who struggle with work emails, who have difficulties with grammar or spelling or need help with reading / writing professional or academic texts.

FVU Danish consists of 5 levels: Start, 1, 2, 3 & 4.

FVU Mathematics

FVU Mathematics is for individuals who would like to become better at handling situations involving numbers.

For example, employees who need to read manuals, interpret numbers and figures, fill out forms, calculate prices, and similar.

FVU Mathematics consists of 2 levels: 1 & 2.

FVU English

At FVU English, you will become better at speaking and understanding English. At the higher levels, we will also be working on reading and writing skills.

FVU English can be relevant for employees who need to be able to read instructions in English, need to navigate international websites or are communicating internationally.

FVU English consists of 4 levels: 1, 2, 3 & 4.

FVU Digital

FVU Digital is for those who need to strengthen their digital skills in an increasingly digital labour market.

This could be employees who need practical experience with smartphones and computers or need to learn how to use digital programmes, apps, intranet or digital self-services.

FVU Digital consists of 3 levels: 1, 2 & 3.

Screening of course applicants

We screen all potential participants before they are enrolled and placed at a specific level. If you are considering to enrol a larger group of employees, we would be happy to visit your company in order to assess each individual employee’s proficiency in Danish.

We start new courses regularly as and when required.
