If you are working, studying or working as an au pair in Denmark, you are entitled to Danish Education under the conditions of the “klippekort”. The “klippekort” is a system of units regulating the amount of time available for you to complete each module and your Danish education.
The number of units that you are entitled to depends on which level (module) you are placed when you start your Danish education. You can get a maximum of 6 units. This corresponds to 42 months or 3½ years of Danish education. One unit gives you the possibility of attending one module for a certain number of months. If you do not pass the module within the time limit, the next unit will be activated.
Please see details in the table below.
The “klippekort” is valid for 5 years. It counts from the date in which you are referred to Danish classes. The “klippekort” will be activated when we offer you a class and the unit will be activated whether you attend your classes or not.
You are entitled to postpone your start date of Danish classes or take a break after passing a module test. If you wish to start later or simply wish to take a break, you need to inform the language centre in writing as soon as possible and before the next module begins. In addition, you must inform the language centre when you would like to start again.
If you stop attending classes without finishing the module with a module test, the time on your unit will continue counting down.
When your unit expires, a new unit will be activated, unless you inform the language centre that you wish to take a break.
Please ask at the reception desk, if you have any further questions about the “klippekort”.

Extension of the “klippekort” and teaching period
If you are unable to participate in Danish classes, due to serious and prolonged illness, you can have the “klippekort” and teaching period extended. You must prove that you are prevented from participating in Danish classes immediately, and no later than the time when you are able to resume your Danish education. Please contact the municipality you live in, if you wish to apply for extension of the “klippekort” and teaching period.
