Exam in Danish 1 (PD1)

Exam in Danish 1 (PD1) is the final exam of Danish Education 1, module 5. The exam is assessed as either ‘passed’ or ‘failed’.

As of 1 January 2025, the final level of Danish Education 1 has been adjusted so that Danish Education 1 is now completed after module 5. The written part of the Danish exam 1 now relates to level A1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The oral part relates to A2+.

Identification requirements

NB: You can no longer use your driving licence as identification.

It is important that you bring the correct ID to PD1.

You can read below what constitutes valid identification.

  • Residence card, alien’s passport or convention passport issued by a public authority in Denmark.
  • Passport or identity card issued by a public authority in an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland.
  • Passport issued by a public authority in a country other than those mentioned above, with a residence sticker attached.

Check well in advance of the exam that you have the correct identification. A photocopy or image of the document cannot be used.

The practicalities

You can enrol in PD1 in Hellerup or Helsingør.

You will be notified of the exact meeting place no later than 2 weeks before the exam is held. It is not possible to request an exam location other than the one you choose when you register.

It is not possible to use a PC or Mac for the exam.

Once you have participated in PD1, you will receive your exam certificate in your e-Boks no later than 2 weeks after the oral exam.

You can also pick up your original test certificate at Speak Hellerup up to one year after you have taken the exam.

It is free to take PD1 if you are a student at the school and attend module 1.5.

If you are not attending module 1.5, you must pay to take the exam.
