What is Danish Language Education?
Danish language education is an official programme for adult foreigners coming to Denmark. The official Danish language programme teaches you to speak, write and understand Danish so you can conduct yourself both personally and professionally in Denmark. Danish language education is generally free if you have a Danish CPR number and have lived in Denmark for less than 5 years (except if you are a diplomat). If you are self-supporting, you must pay a deposit of DKK 2,000 before you can start.

There are 3 Danish language education programmes; 1, 2 & 3. Each programme consists of 5 or 6 levels (modules). Before you can start a Danish language programme, you must attend an interview with a language consultant who will assess which of the 3 Danish language programmes you should start. This way, you are sure to be placed in a class with teaching that suits your academic level. You complete your Danish language education with an officially approved Danish Language Exam.
