Summer courses at DTU

Intensive summer courses at DTU
5 x classroom lessons per week
Start date: August 2026

Would you like to spend 2½ weeks in August learning Danish intensively?

Would you like to meet other international students, employees and spouses from DTU?

Then our intensive Danish summer courses at DTU might be for you.

"As a new DTU student, you will not only have a real first contact with Danish language and culture, but also make a "family" with the other newly arrived students from all around the globe. I highly recommend to take part in this summer course, if you plan to study in Denmark, since the learning objectives are covered satisfactorily in a distended and enjoyable course, and the atmosphere will make you forget you are abroad."

The Module 1 Danish Summer Course was a great experience!

Danish lessons in classes

This summer course will prepare you for your future life, studies and career in Denmark. Although Danes generally speak English, we can promise you that your life in Denmark will be much more rewarding if you acquire Danish language skills.

The course is part of the official Danish education system and ends with a module test (except the first half of module 3). If you wish, you can continue the module or the next module from September at DTU or one of our departments in Greater Copenhagen or Helsingør.

In addition to teaching you Danish, we will also invite you to social events and weekly sightseeing trips during the course period.

Teaching takes place at the DTU campus in Lyngby.

Danish Education 3

Our summer courses at DTU are organised on Danish Education 3, which consists of 5 + 1 modules. Each module ends with a module test. The courses follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR.

Deposit

You are generally entitled to free Danish Education for 5 years after you arrive in Denmark.

If you are self-supporting, you must pay a deposit of DKK 2,000 before you can start. You can get your deposit refunded – or transferred to the next module – if you pass the module within the set time frame.

If you do not pass the module within the time frame, you will lose your deposit and will have to pay a new deposit if you wish to continue on the next module.
